Skagit valley ride (possibly some Tulips too)

The Plan:
Meet at the Mount Vernon Park & Ride for a scenic 60 mile journey through the heart of Skagit County. And maybe some Tulips if we are lucky. This route offers a perfect blend of flat valley cruising and beautiful rolling hills as we circumnavigate Big Lake and Clear Lake. It’s a good ride for those looking to enjoy some of the best rural road cycling in Western Washington.
Meeting Details:
- Meeting Point: Mount Vernon Park & Ride (I-5 & Kincaid St)
- Meet Time: 7:45 AM
- Roll Time: 8:00 AM Sharp
Route Highlights:
- Lakeside Miles: Scenic, winding roads that hug the shorelines of Big Lake and Clear Lake.
- Skagit Farmland: Long, flat stretches through the valley floor with expansive views of the foothills.
- Rolling Terrain: With 2,125 ft of elevation, expect a series of rolling hills and steady grades which should be enough to be a great workout
- This ride is weather dependent
Stats & Difficulty:
- Distance: 60 miles approx.
- Elevation Gain: 2,125 ft
- Difficulty: Intermediate (due to distance and rolling terrain)
- Pace: 13-15 mph
What to Bring:
- Helmet Required.
- Gloves
- Sun protection
- Sun glasses
- GPS / Navigation aid (lots of options for a smartphone). Feel free to DM me and ask.
- Full water bottles and plenty of ride nutrition (nearly 60 miles!).
- Flat kit (spare tube, CO2/pump, levers).
- Rear light for visibility on rural roads.

Notes:
- Ride is tailored for intermediate riders
- We will be travelling at about 14 MPH average and taking some stops for pictures and breaks. Organizers will try to keep the group together as much as possible. If you are significantly faster or slower please be prepared to have maps and navigate as needed on your own.
- Little known fact that Tulips are thought to have been native to Asia before it arrived in the west.

- By default, you will be on the waitlist until the organizer move you to the trip roster.
