Details

Join us to ski/board up Laka Valhalla in the Stevens Pass Area. Given how unstable the snowpack has been lately, we are going to pick a route that stays away from avalanche terrain.

Distance: 8 miles (13 km).
Elevation gain: 2,452 ft (750 m).
Estimated time: 7-9 hours.
Overall difficulty: Intermediate.
Ski/board skills: Intermediate.
Trail: Lake Valhalla from Yodelin.

Everyone will go to the waitlist by default, and I will add riders as drivers become available. It is your responsibility to check your waitlist status, and to remove yourself from the waitlist if you can no longer attend. The total cap is 12 people. Please answer all RSVP questions so I can get accurate headcounts for each location.

Meeting Details

  • Time: 7:00 am.
  • Location: Bothell Park and Ride.
  • Carpooling fee: recommended fee $23 for up 2 passengers, and $15 for 3+ passengers (round trip).

Avalanche Conditions.
AIARE and avalanche safety gear are required for this trip. In addition, I'll check the avalanche forecast the day before. If there's a sudden change in the avalanche conditions, the trip might be cancelled or switched to a different location.

What to bring

  1. Ten Essentials: North Shore Rescue's recommended list.
  2. Avy gear (beacon, probe, shovel).
  3. Skis / splitboard.
  4. Helmet.
  5. Skins.
  6. Layered Clothing: Including a waterproof layer; expect lower temperatures at higher elevations.
  7. Water: At least 2 liters.
  8. Food and Snacks.
  9. Two pair of gloves.
  10. Poles.
