Mount Ann Backcountry Skiing
Details
Join us to ski/board up Mount Ann in the Baker backcountry. The trail starts around Mt Baker ski resort, travel through Austin Pass and then hike up to the summit of Mt Ann.

Distance: 8.5 miles (14 km).
Elevation gain: 3610 ft (1100 m).
Estimated time: 7-9 hours.
Overall difficulty: Intermediate.

Everyone will go to the waitlist by default, and I will add riders as drivers become available. It is your responsibility to check your waitlist status, and to remove yourself from the waitlist if you can no longer attend. The total cap is 12 people. Please answer all RSVP questions so I can get accurate headcounts for each location.
Meeting Details
- Time: 6:00 am.
- Location: Ash Way Park & Ride.
- Carpooling fee: recommended fee $40 for up 2 passengers, and $27 for 3+ passengers (round trip).
Avalanche Conditions.
AIARE and avalanche safety gear are required for this trip. In addition, I'll check the avalanche forecast the day before. If there's a sudden change in the avalanche conditions, the trip might be cancelled or switched to a different location.
What to bring
- Ten Essentials: North Shore Rescue's recommended list.
- Avy gear (beacon, probe, shovel).
- Skis / splitboard.
- Helmet.
- Skins.
- Ski crampons.
- Layered Clothing: Including a waterproof layer; expect lower temperatures at higher elevations.
- Water: At least 2 liters.
- Food and Snacks.
- Two pair of gloves.
- Poles.
