Join us for a 3 day climbing trip to Squamish over Memorial Day weekend. We will climb the best crags, minimizing driving time by camping directly at Check Canyon. This trip is beginner-friendly.

Itinerary

  • Friday: departure and basecamp
  • 4:00 pm: meet at Ash Way Park & Ride.
  • Evening: Cross the border, drive the Sea-to-Sky highway, and arrive at the Chek Canyon Recreation Site. Set up camp.
  • Saturday
  • Plan: zero-driving climbing in Chek Canyon. Possible crags include Foundation Wall and Electric Av.
  • Sunday
  • Plan: A quick drive to Area 44. We will spend the day climbing and enjoying the spectacular views of the Tantalus Range. Group dinner in Squamish.
  • Monday
  • Plan: break down camp early and pack the vehicles. Drive south to Murrin Park for a half-day climbing session right off the highway. Wrap up climbing by early afternoon and hit the road back to Seattle.

Logistics

  • Accommodations: camping at Chek Canyon is rustic and free (pit toilets, no running water). Bring sufficient drinking water.
  • Group gear: ropes, quickdraws, stick clips, and anchor-building materials.
  • Personal gear: helmet (mandatory for all climbers and belayers), harness, PAS, and a valid passport.
