North Twin Sister (bike and scramble)
Details
This is an interesting scramble-hike near Mt Baker. Starts out as a bike ride for 5.5 miles on a road that leads to the trailhead. Bike includes 2,600 ft of gain. From there we will take the 5 mile trek to the summit covering about 3,100 ft. It is a class 3-4 scramble for roughly 1,500 ft.
Budgeting 6-7 hours for this hike. It will include some route finding, therefore it’s imperative that no one moves ahead or behind the group as it is easy to get lost in the scramble section of the hike (per the trip reports.) If you can’t hike relatively fast, then pass on this one. That means a steady 2.5-3 miles per hour pace uphill. I will be bringing a GPS device for route finding if necessary and using gaia maps.
The Twin Sister peaks are 15 km southwest of Mt Baker and offer stunning views of the area. This should be a fun, and challenging hike. We will aim to be at the summit before 2:00!
