Thursday Climbing With Kids @ Edgeworks Bellevue
Details
This event is for kids and parents to climb together at Edgeworks Bellevue.
It has two main purposes:
First, to give kids an opportunity to climb while their parents supervise and encourage them. Children can try beginner bouldering problems, such as VB and V0, or TP depending on their age, comfort level, and their parents’ judgment. Parents and experienced climbers may offer informal guidance on basic climbing movement, balance, foot placement, route reading, safe falling and downclimbing, as well as gym etiquette such as taking turns and staying clear of other climbers’ fall zones.
Kids will naturally need breaks, so parents are encouraged to bring books, board games, snacks, or other quiet activities for them to enjoy between climbing sessions.
Second, finding time to climb as a parent can be challenging, so this event also gives participating families an opportunity to support one another. When parents feel comfortable doing so, they may take turns watching the children so that other parents can get some climbing time. Please expect to spend part of the evening climbing with or supervising your child and, if mutually agreed upon, helping watch the group while another parent climbs.
This is a cooperative gathering rather than a formal childcare or climbing-instruction program. Each parent or guardian remains responsible for their own child’s safety, behavior, and supervision throughout the event.
The family session will take place at the same time as our regular adult climbing meetup at Edgeworks Bellevue. Families may sometimes be able to coordinate guest passes with participating gym members, but passes are not guaranteed. Otherwise, families will need to use their own memberships or purchase the punch cards.
