Overview
The goal of this meetup is simple: providing a safe, low-pressure opportunity for anyone new to open water swimming to feel comfortable wading in.
This is not a workout or a formal clinic. We will talk through some quick safety basics on shore, then head into the water together at a relaxed pace. We will stay entirely in shallow water where everyone can easily stand up at any time.

What we will cover
The Basics: A casual look at open water safety, wetsuit fit, and swim buoys.
Getting Comfortable: Wading in slowly to adapt to the temperature, getting your face wet, and relaxing without pool walls or lane lines.

What to bring:
Swimsuit or wetsuit
Goggles and a bright swim cap
An inflatable swim buoy/tow float (if you have one)
A towel and warm clothes for afterward

We will move at the slowest person's pace and adapt completely to whoever shows up. The only objective is to get in the water and feel safe doing it.

Equipment and Safety:

  • Our Open Water Swims (OWS) are non-lifeguarded, swim-at-your-own-risk events.
  • There is NO guarantee of access to changing rooms/lockers, or gear watch on the beach.
  • A swim buoy with a dry pouch is useful to bring your phone and keys with you on the swim.
  • A wet suit is highly recommended. The wet suit is especially helpful early in the season but is not necessary.

Please feel free to ask any questions in the comments.
