PICK YOUR START:

  1. 40 Miles: Meet at UW at 7:50am, above the Triangle Parking Garage just off the Burke Gilman Trail. Wheels rolling at 8am sharp. This group will ride the 520 trail to Marymoor park to start.
  2. 27 Miles: Meet at Marymoor Park at 9am (expected time for the UW group to get there), expected wheels rolling again at 9:15am.

Route:
Please download the route to your bike computer: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/56342130

For those starting at UW, we'll take the 520 trail eastbound to Marymoor Park. This is about 12.5 miles, 720' of elevation as a nice warm-up.
From Marymoor Park, we'll do a counter-clockwise loop of Lake Sammamish, head into Issaquah for a hill climb of Talos Drive (regrouping at the aptly-named Lookout Park), then come back along the east side of Lake Sammamish continuing on into Redmond, ending at Hoffman's Fine Cakes and Pastry for some well-earned snacks.

Return Route: If you started at Marymoor Park, it's a quick ride back to the start. If you started at UW, you have options: take the light rail back across, ride the 520 trail for some extra miles, or some combination or rail + bike.

Pace and regrouping: I averaged 13.5mph last weekend omitting the big hill climb, which translates to about 16mph on the flats. We will regroup twice along the way, but this means you should expect the ride to split into smaller groups based on your speed, and you could be riding portions solo. I high recommend downloading the route onto your bike computer or using the RideWithGPS app on your phone to help navigate!

Equipment and Safety: Helmets are required to ride. A good headlight and taillight are recommended. Rain (however unlikely) will cancel this ride. Bring your own nutrition you expect to need during the ride. Riders should be able to sustain the appropriate pace, know how to read a cue sheet, change a flat tire (and have the requisite equipment to do so) and have a positive attitude. Ride Leaders and Sweeps (if available) will not stop long for flats or mechanical issues due to group safety.
