Come spend an evening exploring the Seattle Art Museum during Free First Thursday!

SAM is opening its doors for FREE, with special evening programming including live music, a drop-in art activity, an artist talk, and plenty of time to wander the galleries together.

SAM says tickets are available both online and at the museum. I recommend reserving a free ticket online ahead of time if you can.

5–8 pm | Drop-in art activity: paper sculptures with Amaranta Sandys
Brotman Forum
Create a spiral art piece inspired by Saya Woolfalk's Lessons from the Institute of Empathy. Fill the spiral with all of the things that make you who you are, and hang it up at home to remind you that you belong. Developed and facilitated by teaching artist Amaranta Sandys.

5–8 pm | Performance by BLUES.WEAVE
3rd floor galleries
Drop in on Seattle-based guitarist, producer, and poet, Jai Kobi Kaleo'okalani, as she creates an improvised soundscape in response to Alfredo Arreguín’s complex, mosaic-like paintings. Performing under the moniker BLUES.WEAVE, Kaleo'okalani's genre-defying work seamlessly blends the sonic worlds of improvised Black American music and experimental sound production, conjuring immersive performances and recordings featuring resonator and electric guitars, drum machines, samplers, and electronics. Drawing from a deep well of Black ancestral inspirations and approaches, her music emphasizes themes of radical transformation and freedom-making by imagining unseen futures through soundscape.

👋 Meeting up

We’ll meet outside the museum near the Hammering Man at 6:00PM and head inside together.

If you’re running late, no worries. Just message the group and meet us inside.

Come meet some new people, enjoy some art, and take advantage of one of Seattle’s best free museum nights!

Feel free to come alone. New faces are always welcome. 😊
