As always, the Seattle WordPress Meetup is a free, non-judgemental place for people of any skill level, interest, or background to come and learn, share, and participate in our amazing WordPress community. We hope you'll join us this month for two exciting WordPress presentations, and stick around for Q&A and networking.

Doors open at 6pm, feel free to come at 6pm and catch up with old friends, or perhaps meet new ones. The meetup will kick-off at 6:30pm.

First, we have Seven DeBord presenting Thinking Outside the Blog: Creative Uses for Wordpress.

While Wordpress is widely known for being an excellent platform for today’s blogs, magazines and new sites… its flexible nature makes it a favorite for a variety of tasks. See how Seven is straying from traditional uses and establishing Wordpress as the basis for projects such as enterprise digital signage, rapid prototyping of apps and interactive installations driven by motion tracking devices.

Seven DeBord is an Interactive Communications Engineer (Mad Scientist) for a small, 112-year-old startup named Nordstrom, where each day he finds new ways to increase enterprise adoption and reliance upon WordPress. Whether they know it or not.

Next, we have Aaron Hockley presenting Succesful Site Launch: from Domain to Fame

WordPress boasts the famous five-minute install (and it's a lot less than that with many web hosts), but there's a lot more to launching a successful website or blog than just installing WordPress. Aaron Hockley will walk us through a series of important things to keep in mind throughout the process as you prepare a site, unveil it to the world, and engage in immediate post-launch promotion to ensure that folks know about your new web venture. While we can't guarantee fame, we can help you remember key milestones and avoid making potentially costly mistakes along the way. Whether your new site is for a hobby or a business, you'll want to start off in a strong position, and you'll walk away from this talk with a helpful checklist for launching your new WordPress website.

Aaron Hockley is a photographer with a tech background; he's been blogging since 2001 and using WordPress to build a few dozen websites since 2004. He's the founder of WordCamp Portland and has presented at BlogWorld & New Media Expo, several WordCamps, and numerous smaller meetups. Along the way, he's learned a thing or two about how, and how not, to launch new sites.

After presentations we'll break into smaller groups for Q&A and mingling, and everything should wrap up between 8:30-9pm.
