Hike South River Farms Park & Visit Pirates Cove

Details
This is an easy hike on natural trails that wander through the woods and waterfront along the South River near Edgewater. Opened to the public in 2015, South River Farm Park has 170 acres of woods, meadows, and beaches with expansive views across the river facing Quiet Waters Park. After our hike, we can visit Pirates Cove restaurant in Galesville.
MEETUP AND PARKING
We'll meet in the visitor parking lot at the end of the park's entrance road by the County maintenance buildings.
HIKING PLAN
The natural surface trails at South River Farms Park are generally flat and in good shape, but do have tree roots and occasional rough conditions. If the tide is low, visitors can also walk along the beachfront that parallels part of the trail. Details below:

Total hiking distance should be approximately three miles. Anyone who can walk on woodland trails for a couple of hours should do fine, but please respect any physical limitations you may have in order to keep up with the group.
AFTERWARD AT PIRATES COVE IN GALESVILLE
After our hike, we can drive eight miles to Pirates Cove restaurant in Galesville for food and refreshments. The restaurant has a nice waterside location with impressive views of the Rhode River and boats docked at the adjacent marina. It's a good place to relax and socialize with a full menu.
Our SHR group always gathers inside the bar area where we can freely mingle and get separate checks with no hassles about group ordering. We also receive much better service by ordering and paying directly at the bar. Details below:
FINAL DETAILS
We'll need good hiking weather for this event. A little rain won't stop us, but we won't go in miserable conditions. I'll post an update and send out an email by 10:00 am if we need to change plans or cancel.
I hope to see you there!
