AMM Oyster Roast & Sock Burning 🦪🔥
Spring on the Chesapeake has its own quirky, salty sense of ceremony—and this is one of the best of them.
Join us for the AMM Oyster Roast & Sock Burning, a beloved Annapolis waterfront tradition that marks the unofficial end of winter boating season. Sailors have long joked that you can’t wear sandals again until you’ve burned your wool socks from the cold months. What started decades ago as a lighthearted marina ritual has grown into a lively community celebration of warmer winds, longer days, and life returning to the Bay.
What to expect
• Fresh local oysters roasted on site
• Live music and waterfront views
• Maritime Museum exhibits open to explore
• The famous “sock burning” ceremony
• Plenty of space to mingle with fellow Annapolis locals and newcomers
Whether you’re a lifelong Bay sailor or just oyster-curious, this is one of the most authentic Annapolis events of the year—part history, part humor, part delicious mess.

Let’s meet at noon near the entrance so we can go in together. I’ll message the group the morning of with what I’m wearing so you can find us easily. Feel free to bring a pair of old socks if you want to take part in the ceremonial burn!
Come toast the end of winter, make some new friends, and welcome another Chesapeake spring the proper way.
Hope to see you there! 🌊
