Come write in community. Pushcart Prize and PEN/Robert J. Dau Short Story prize nominee Megan Haeuser leads this workshop intended to help you develop your craft, connect with other writers and most importantly, get words down on paper. All genres and levels welcome. Whether you’re new to writing, experienced or experimenting, this workshop offers a supportive environment in which to strengthen your voice. The workshop will be held at the lovely new Fieldwork space in downtown Atascadero.

Format: 2 hours

  • Introductions
  • Craft Discussion: Topics vary each month
  • Writing: 5-15 minute timed writing sprints with optional prompts. The prompts are intended to spur your creativity and lead you in unexpected directions. Multiple short exercises help lower the stakes and get you writing.
  • Sharing: Reading your work out loud gets it out of your head, and helps identify what resonates with others. Feedback is focused on what is working well and what is worth developing further.

What to bring:
Whatever you like to write with (notebooks, pens, pencils, laptop etc.)
What’s provided:
Reference materials, shared table space, complimentary beverages and snacks.
