New Walks - The Beauty and Lost World Of Bethnal Green and surrounding area
Details
Hi all, cost & info below, please join everyone for a fun 4.7 mile walk mile to the vibrant, exciting area of Bethnal Green. Some brief local info along the way, it has wonderful hidden areas and I will show you the colourful highlights, lost alleyways, a city farm with cafe!, remains of some banksy art, walk through the Columbia Road Flower Market (Market runs on Sundays only), also beautiful walk along the Regents Canal, see the first-ever council estate in the World from Victorian times, it looks absolutely stunning with the fascinating story of it's a concept and history (Victorian council estate section was previously on another walk, only part which is not a new walk). Lots of early Victorian charm on this walk in wonderful quaint settings.
An additional option near the end of the walk is to visit the strange Victorian but curious small museum by the Regents Canal 'The Victor Wynd Museum of Curiosity' Adult Admission is £10. Concessions £6.
It houses old, real shrunken heads, a human skeleton lying in a coffin, Elvis Presley's hair, Amy Winehouse and Kylie Minogue's poo (I said it was strange!), Dodo bones, two-headed kittens, the modern-day dandy about town 'Sebastian Horsley' who was nailed to a religious cross! It has a bar, cocktails (even 'absinthe' Vincent Van Gogh's choice of drink) and food. In darkened wonderful Victorian surroundings, busy at weekends. They will be expecting some of us at the end of the walk, woooo!
