Roland Garros via the Petite Ceinture and the village of Auteuil!

Details

Paris will soon be going TENNIS crazy for the French OPEN - but did you know that leading to the infamous stadium complex is the remains of an abandoned railway line, in fact - possibly the oldest commuter line in the world? So come join us on a very different kind of pilgrimige to the French home of tennis!

Regulars will know the abandoned historic Petite Ceinture railway is a favourite theme, but this time we are visiting a section in the 16th arrondisment - that ran until as recently as the 1980's.

Built in 1852, the Petite Ceinture connected all of Paris's main railway stations in a huge loop around the edge of the city. Replaced by the Metro it runs above and below the city, weaving its way thru tunnels and over bridges and remains mostly untouched, overgrown and mysterious - apart from the areas turned over to secret gardens for the locals and those in the know!

We will explore one such newer section in the 16th arrondisment, the historic villages of Passy and Auteuil which once house some luminaries as Thomas Jefferson and then continuing on to the botanical gardens and the famous tennis courts of Roland Garros - after which we will go for a post-tour drink!

When: Sunday 11th May, 14:30

Cost: 15 Euros per person (to be paid in advance to secure your RSVP at paypal.me/secretparistours) or via /Wise/revolut/Lydia to +33646773410 - send a MSG if you wish to pay cash on the day
