Visit Aachen: Christmas Market and City

Details
In December, we are going to venture outside Belgium again.
This time we are heading for a 1-day Trip to Aachen, Germany.
We will visit the City - with a focus on the Route Charlemagne, but also the Christmas Market.
# Christmas Market
Aachen Christmas Market is a particularly beautiful market to visit thanks to its backdrop of Aachen Cathedral, which is a UNESCO world heritage site. As well as twinkling illuminations and trees across the city, the wooden chalets have a rather medieval vibe and appeal to them.
Dozens of stalls surround the cathedral and town hall, once part of Charlemagne's royal palace. Twinkling lights and the aroma of warm spices create an irresistibly festive atmosphere in this historic city.
# Route Charlemagne
These are the stops on the Charlemagne route: SuperC, International Newspaper Museum, Grashaus, Town Hall, Cathedral, Couven Museum, Elisenbrunnen with archaeological showcase. And in the middle of it all lies the Center Charlemagne – New City Museum Aachen, where all the threads come together.
## Why “Charlemagne”?
In Aachen everything revolves around Charlemagne and his importance for the city and Europe. Karl, Charlemagne in French and English, is the namesake of the “Route Charlemagne”. The Center Charlemagne between the cathedral and town hall is the starting point and interface of the “Route Charlemagne”, which leads quickly and on foot to eight important places of Aachen's unique cultural heritage, where you can deepen individual topics of the city's history or experience them through the senses.
## Sulfur water and coronation celebrations
For example, if you look into the depths of history in the archaeological showcase in the Elisengarten, all the way back to the Romans and the Neolithic period. Or bathe your hands in the Elisenbrunnen, from which the hot sulfur water that once attracted Charlemagne and the European nobility to Aachen still bubbles up.
Or when you listen to the mystical silence in the cathedral or walk through the coronation hall of the historic town hall, where the banquets on the occasion of the royal coronations were once celebrated.
##Logistics & Pricing
It takes only an hour and ten minutes to get there with the train from BXL-Nord to Aachen-Hauptbahnhof. While we are on the train, we can share our thoughts about the past year 2024 and think of our 2025 new year resolutions.
We will leave at 8.34 and get back on 18.21.
The price of the event is 25 €. This includes the visit of the Christmas market and the guided tour in Aachen. You are requested to already pay 15 € upfront to this account number: BE44 9502 0658 2245 (NEW!) and the remainder on the train.
You will need to pay for the train tickets yourself, which should cost between 70 and 75 € and for the lunch we will have together and of course any personal expenses.
Please let me know if you have additional questions.
Kind regards,
Carl
