Agenda:
18:00-18:30 - Food & Drinks
18:30-18:50 - GenAI: Friend or Enemy in the Battle for Secure Coding, Sarit Yerushalmi Yarkoni, Security Researcher at Imperva
18:50-19:20 - “No good deed is left unpunished”, Stav Shulman, Senior Researcher at Google Cloud.
19:20-19:40- “Your app is only as secure as your weakest line of code”, Liran Tal, GitHub Star 🌟 · Director of Developer Advocacy at Snyk

Lecture 1:
“GenAI: Friend or Enemy in the Battle for Secure Coding”

The lecture explores the potential benefits and risks of incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) into secure coding practices. By integrating AI tools into the development workflow, developers can extend their expertise, improve code quality, and identify potential security flaws more effectively. However, it is crucial to maintain human oversight and critically evaluate AI-generated suggestions to ensure their accuracy and relevance.

Sarit Yerushalmi Yarkoni
Security Researcher at Imperva

Lecture 2:
“No good deed is left unpunished”

When everyday software becomes part of a hackers toolbox
In this session we’ll explore some examples of software tools that became highly popular among hackers, even more so then their original intended purpose

Stav Shulman
Senior Researcher at Google Cloud

Lecture3:
“Your app is only as secure as your weakest line of code”

As a developer, you do your best to build a quality product and minimize security issues. But that's no easy task! That line of code you wrote yesterday may just be the vulnerability that lets a hacker in tomorrow. You have heard about the OWASP Top 10, and you might be able to spot SQL injections in your code, but you're no security expert. You could be one vulnerability away from a severe system compromise. So, you tried using security linters in your project but gave up on static analysis tools because they just slow you down, are too complex, or plain out riddled with false positives. We're here to tell you you're not alone! Tune in to learn about secure coding practices with developer-friendly static analysis tools that guide you with actionable recommendations to fix security bugs in your code. Together, we will hack a live running application through common security vulnerabilities and then fix them right there in your IDE! Your takeaways from this session will be:
- Learn about the challenges developers face with static code analysis
- Learn about secure coding best practices by live hacking a real application
- Learn about using Snyk Code to find code security vulnerabilities from your IDE, the command line and the Snyk app
- Learn how to fix code security vulnerabilities
