BNE0x4A (74th Session): Beyond Identity

Details

Main Event
Adam from QUT presents Beyond Identity: The Future of Trust, Attestation, and Assurance.

In a world where personal data is increasingly stored in centralised directories, digital identity has become both a convenience and a liability to organisations and individual alike. Data breaches continue to expose sensitive information, leaving individuals vulnerable to fraud and identity theft. But what if we could change the model entirely?
Join us for a thought-provoking session exploring the evolution of digital identity, the risks posed by traditional approaches, and a bold vision for the future: Trust Frameworks, Verifiable Credentials and Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI). We'll discuss how decentralized identity models remove the value proposition for hackers, empower individuals with ownership of their own identity, and redefine trust in the digital age.
This session will cover:

  • The rise and risks of centralised digital identity;
  • Practical understanding of verifiable credentials and digital trust frameworks;
  • The potential of Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) in securing personal data;
  • The future of authentication and governance in a decentralized identity ecosystem;

Whether you're a security professional, a digital identity strategist, or simply curious about the next evolution of online trust, this session will challenge assumptions and provide insights into a more secure, user-controlled future.
