    # Presentation

    ### Title: What is a BSD? Why should I care?

With all the focus on Linux a whole family of operating systems get's pushed to the side. That is the BSD family, OpenBSD, NetBSD, FreeBSD and DragonFly. We'll cover a brief history, delve into how these differ from Linux, what do they bring from a security perspective and describe where they're buried in current platforms.

    Speaker: Peter Sandilands
Peter Sandilands is a 50-year veteran of the Australian IT industry. He has held technical, support, marketing and management roles across a broad spectrum of industry. They have varied from a senior security management role at a top four bank to leading the introduction and establishment of Check Point Software into Australia. For the past twenty years Peter has focussed on security and its implications for business.
Peter holds an MSc Internetworking, a Master of Cybersecurity, a Grad Cert in Business Leadership and has achieved professional recognition as a CISSP, CISM and PCIP.

How to find us on the day?
An organiser will be on the bottom floor until 6:15 to help attendees access the lifts.

    # Speed hiring

There is an opportunity for potential employers to do an impromptu 30-second description of their open role. If you are interested, speak with one of the organisers before the start of the session.
Please note the best way to support SecTalks and tell others about your open roles is through sponsorship. We encourage companies, small or large, to come forward and support their local community.
