Secular Haven: Longmont Book Club- A Place For Us, by Brandon J. Wolf

In honor of Pride month we have chosen the memoir, A Place For Us, by Brandon J. Wolf. For those of our members who attended FFRF’s National Convention will remember his moving speach. As heartbreaking as his story of survival Is, it is the love and hope for a better future he instilled in me that inspired this selection.

In his own words…
When I set out to put pen to paper, I had no idea what form it would ultimately take. The rollercoaster of growing up Black and queer in America. Grappling with the loss of my mother. The joys of finding chosen family. Pulse. Purpose. Forgiveness. A Place For Us is about discovering that the space where we most belong is in the bonds we build with each other. I didn’t sit down to write because I have all the answers. I wrote in the hopes that, even if just for a moment in these pages, we can dare to ask questions together. I can’t wait for you to crack it open. - Brandon
