Fay Canyon Hike

Details
Hello hikers,
Our Memorial Day hike will be the Fay Canyon Trail. This is an Easy hike of some 2 1/2 miles in-out and a relatively flat trail. I don't plan on hiking up to the Fay Canyon Arch, but for those who would like to - have at it. This will be the last of the regularly scheduled Monday hikes until next Fall. I may organize a few hikes over the Summer, however.
Summary: A favorite short, pleasant in-out stroll through a canyon with good red rock views and an optional side trip to view a natural arch
Challenge Level: Easy for the Fay Canyon Trail; Moderate if you climb up to Fay Canyon Arch
Hiking Distance: About 1.2 miles each way to the rock slide or 2.4 miles round trip. Add 0.5 mile round trip if you hike to Fay Canyon Arch or 2.9 miles round trip.
Hiking Time: About 2 hours round trip
Trailhead Directions: From the "Y" roundabout, drive west toward Cottonwood on SR 89A about 3 miles. Turn right onto Dry Creek Road. Stay on Dry Creek Road to a stop sign (about 3 miles) then turn left onto Boynton Pass Road. Proceed about 1.6 miles to a stop sign. Turn left, continuing on Boynton Pass Road. Park at the first parking area on the left side, about 0.8 miles from the stop sign. The trailhead is across the road from the west end of the parking area. There is a toilet at the parking area. A parking pass is not required. You are responsible for your safety on the hike.
FYI, it's going to be warm Monday morning - about 72 degrees when we start at 8:00 AM and about 80 degrees when we finish at 10:00 AM.
