Schuerman Mountain

Hello hikers,
For our next hike on Monday, September 8, 2025, let's hike Schuerman Mountain. We last hiked this trail in March 2025. But since that time, the Forest Service has developed a new short trail named the Extra Credit Trail to bypass hiking up the Red Rock High School parking lot to the trailhead. So we'll park along the Upper Red Rock Loop Road at waypoint {6} on the map, oposite the high school and take the Extra Credit Trail to the Scorpion Trail, than on to the Schuerman Mountain Trail.

The starting temperature is estimated to be 68 degrees rising to 78 degrees when we finish. The the present time there is a 10% chance of rain.

If roadside parking is not available, we'll park at the Shuttle Park & Ride lot (waypoint {7}) on the map and walk along the Upper Red Rock Loop Road to the Extra Credit Trail.
