Hello hikers,

Monday's hike, November 10, 2025 will be the Long Canyon Trail This is a plesant in-out hike through a forested canyon, although the first 3/4 mile has little shade. Long Canyon provides some nice red rock views.

Shortly after we begin the hike we'll take a detour to the "Birthing Cave," which provides some great photo opportunities. However, to achieve these great photos you have to scramble up the the cave and then scramble up the very steep sides of the cave.

After returning to the Long Canyon Trail, I plan to hike another 1.5 miles, then turn around. This will make my hike about a 5 mile trek round trip. The Long Canyon Trail continues on for another 1 1/2 miles from where I plan to head back.

Long Canyon parking is located on Long Canyon Road. From the "Y" roundabout, drive west toward Cottonwood on SR 89A about 3 miles. Turn right onto Dry Creek Road. Stay on Dry Creek Road to a stop sign (about 3 miles) then turn right onto Long Canyon Road. Proceed 0.6 mile to the parking area on the left. The trailhead is at the parking area. There are no toilets and a Red Rock Pass (or equivalent) is not required.

Note that this a senior-led hike. So it wll be more like a stroll. If you are looking for a cardio workout, this is not the hike for you.

You are responsible for your safety on the hike.
