Skywalker/Herkenham Loop

Monday's hike, January 26, 2026 will be the Skywalker/Herkenham Loop. This is a moderate 3.8 mile hike on the western edge of Sedona featuring distant views of Cathedral Rock and Courthouse Butte. We last hiked these trails in December 2024.

We'll be hiking three trails to complete the loop. We'll begin on Skywalker, continue on Old Post and return on Herkenham. Cumulative ascent for the hike will be about 650 feet.

The trailhead parking is located near Red Rock High School. From the "Y" roundabout, drive west toward Cottonwood on SR 89A about 4.25 miles. Turn left onto the Upper Red Rock Loop Road (URRLR). There is a sign for the Sedona Shuttle Park & Ride at the first driveway on the right. Continue on and make a U turn opposite the fourth driveway (it's behind the high school) and park on the east side of the URRLR (waypoint {10} on the map). If there is no parking on the URRLR, go back to the Sedona Shuttle Park & Ride parking lot and park here {11}. These parking areas also serve the Schuerman Mountain Vista and Scorpion Trails. The trail begins on the east side of Upper Red Rock Loop Road {10}.

We'll begin promptly at 8:30 AM. This is a senior-led hike so if you are looking for a cardio workout, this is not the hike for you. You are responsible for your safety on the hike.
