Hello hikers,

Monday's hike, February 2, 2026 will be the Chuckwagon Loop. This is a pleasant loop hike on an adopted mountain bike trail which parallels Forest Road 152 then loops back to Long Canyon Road. There are good red rock views all around.

While there are several ways to hike the loop, we'll be starting from the Mescal Day Use Trailhead located on Long Canyon Road at 8:30 AM (waypoint [1] on the map). Let's meet at the interpretive signboard located in the north side parking area (by the shuttle stop).

We'll hike the connector trail from the south side of Long Canyon Road to the Chuckwagon Trail, turn left and then hike the northeast loop as shown on the map in a counter clockwise direction. This is a 4.7 mile hike with a cumulative ascent of about 650 feet.

This is a senior-led hike so if you are looking for a cardio workout, this is not the hike for you. You are responsible for your safety on the hike.
