BELL TRAIL TO THE CRACK, NEAR RIMROCK ARIZONA, NOT BELL ROCK TRAIL IN THE VOC.
Details
This is not the Bell Rock Trail in the VOC, but the trail on the east side of I-17 that follows Wet Beaver Creek. The turnaround point is called "The Crack". It's a large open collection area for the creek before running down to intersect with The Verde River.
This hike is longer than I normally lead, 7.1 miles, with almost 600 feet of elevation. It's not a novice/easy hike because of the distance and rock climbing at the midway point. Be prepared for at least 3 hours of hiking and climbing.
NOTE: There is a large parking area where we will meet, with pit toilets. Follow the map on this page or you will end up in the wrong parking area. There are 3. This is the 3rd one as you travel down AZ179 past I-17.
There is limited cell service at the lot. We will leave promptly at 9:00am. Give yourself some extra time to find this lot.
"This hike is relatively flat and leads to a beautiful swimming spot. The first part of the trail is an easy path with some loose rocks and not much shade. The second half is rockier and less smooth, but the red rock becomes super vibrant. At the end of the trail, there's a swimming hole that's very cold."
You and you alone are responsible for your own safety and ability to complete this hike, as agreed to when you joined this Meetup Group.
