Self mastery of the physical body through bellydance for women
Please note that these classes usually run on Mondays but due to the availability of the studio this week, it will be running on Tuesday.
Intense & fun classes focusing on drilling the foundations to progress quickly and advance with good form, good balance and mobility.
Fun classes teaching absolute beginners but also perfect for intermediate to re-visit the foundations and drill the basics building muscle memory, learning new choreography and improving mobility and awareness of the body.
Did you know the origins of bellydance are for the honour of the womb, fertility, womanhood and femininity? Its origins begun with by performances by women, for women. The circle of women dance for each other at a Hafla (a gathering centered around food and belly dance) It serves as a way for women to connect with each other, encourage, and acknowledge each other's beauty. It is also considered as a preparation practice for childbirth. The ancient Middle Eastern belly dance was thought to induce fertility in women and to strengthen their bodies in preparation for childbirth.
These classes are intended to get you to progress, to teach you and honour the origins and sacredness of bellydance, to help you embrace your womb and femininity, and get your body moving, active and sweating and to help you master your body, focus and confidence.
Bellydance is an ancient art form over 6000 years old, I have had a love for it since I was a child, was dancing in my mothers womb before she gave birth and it has been an incredible way for me to tap into my feminine energy and express myself and improve my wellbeing, so get ready to fall in love with it also.
Held in a great dance hall in the new dance building and taught by an Arabian bellydancer, the feeling of the class is intended to make you fall in love with this ancient art, increase confidence and wellbeing and self mastery of the physical body.
