In the face of the shameful prejudice of the Church in America in 1860s, young Augustus dreams of becoming a Catholic priest. His dream seems hopeless, yet against all odds he perseveres. Finally ordained in Rome, he returns home to Missouri to serve people of all races as America’s first Black priest.

St Luke Productions has been a favorite of mine for their stage performances. Since COVID, they moved to film production, with no loss of the integrity and gritty emotion that are the stories of Catholic Saints.
