What are your thoughts about the Semantic Web? Is it the next Big Thing?

It's an appropriate way to model and interact with data in many scenarios, particularly on the Web or the Internet. It needs greater awareness and acceptance from the technical community, while remaining obscure to end users.

Which new technologies would you like to learn? Have you worked with any "semantic" technologies such as XML, RDF, OWL, GRDDL, or SPARQL?

OWL 2. XQuery

Which applications or web sites will make the Semantic Web a reality in the public eye?

Applications that heavily use LOD, and which easily allow seamless integration of new data as it becomes available.

Moved in from Chicago, where I founded the SemWeb meetup group there. I'd like to stay involved with the SemWeb community. I run the Mulgara project, where I was a founding designer/developer for TKS/Kowari/Mulgara.
