🎭 ONE-DAY THEATRE WORKSHOP
A 4-Hour Theatre Experience in English
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
Hi, my name is Ally!
I’m a theatre director and educator based in Canada, with experience working on theatre projects and English-language drama programs in both Canada and Korea.
I have led theatre and drama-based English programs for university students, teachers in public education, and learners from a wide range of backgrounds. Through these programs, I have seen how theatre can help people become more confident, expressive and creative — not only on stage, but also in everyday life.
My workshops are designed as supportive spaces where participants can try new things, take creative risks and learn by doing. We use acting, imagination, movement, improvisation and communication to explore ideas and create something together.
You don’t need to be an experienced actor to join. Whether you’re curious about theatre, want to use English in a more natural way, or simply want to become a more expressive and creative person, I’ll guide you through the process step by step.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have the chance to create and perform a short original piece with your group.
I hope you’ll come ready to play, imagine and have fun!
⸻
What happens when we stop studying English — and start playing, imagining, creating and performing in it?
This 4-hour workshop is a hands-on theatre experience combining acting, imagination, improvisation, movement, communication and performance.
You don’t need any acting experience.
You don’t need perfect English.
Just come ready to move, play, imagine and create.
⸻
🎭 WHAT WE’LL DO
- Theatre Warm-up & Ensemble Building
We’ll begin with theatre games, movement and group exercises designed to break the ice, loosen up the body and create a comfortable ensemble.
- Imagination & Expression Training
Imagination is at the heart of this workshop.
Through exercises inspired by theatre practices such as the Magic If, observation, sensory imagination and character work, we’ll explore how to make choices, respond to situations and bring ideas to life through the body, voice and emotions.
You’ll learn to respond naturally instead of trying to find the “perfect” answer.
- Improvisation
No scripts. No memorization.
Through improv games and spontaneous scenes, we’ll practice listening, reacting, accepting ideas and building a scene together.
- Creating a Scene
In small groups, participants will turn ideas and situations into characters, relationships and short scenes.
- Create Your Own Short Play
Now we put everything together.
Each group will develop a short original piece through collaboration, rehearsal and director coaching.
- Mini Performance
At the end of the workshop, each group performs what they have created.
It doesn’t have to be perfect.
The goal is to experience the entire creative process — from the first idea to the stage.
⸻
✨ WHAT YOU CAN GAIN
This workshop isn’t only about learning how to act or improving your English.
Through theatre, you can develop:
• Confidence and self-expression
• Creativity and imagination
• Spontaneous communication
• Active listening and responsiveness
• English in real, meaningful situations
• Collaboration and teamwork
• Presentation and performance confidence
• Character and scene-building skills
• The courage to make choices without overthinking
• A deeper understanding of how ideas become performance
For English learners, theatre offers a chance to use English actively and naturally rather than only studying it.
For anyone interested in creativity and performance, it offers a space to experiment, collaborate and create something new.
Through this program, you’ll have the opportunity to become a more expressive, imaginative and creative person — someone who can communicate ideas, make bold choices and bring them to life.
Most importantly, you’ll experience what it feels like to create something together and bring it to life.
