And what’s that?

Serial expats are people who go beyond the usual expat concept (someone living outside their home country for the first time).

Serial expats are people who:

• Have lived in multiple countries over the years (3+)
• Have been deeply and irreversibly shaped by different cultures
• Have had long-term international relationships
• Don’t fully identify with their original nationality anymore
• Permanently experience a sense of cultural in-betweenness or not fully belonging anywhere
• Can also be referred to as Third Culture Adults (TCAs)

About me: I’m Laura. I’m 35 years old, originally from Spain, but I’ve lived in France, Ireland, and Germany over the past 15 years. On top of that, my partner of eight years is German. So I’m definitely very shaped by international experiences.
