01:10pm-02:00pm ET - Inside Serverlesspresso: Creating a production workload for pennies a day
James Beswick, AWS, Principal Developer Advocate
Serverlesspresso is a production-scale ordering system presented at AWS Summits and re:Invent, handling thousands of coffee orders per day across multiple locations. The system provides multiple web app frontends from customers and baristas, and uses multiple approaches to throttle order arrival and secure the backend. It uses a variety of AWS services to replace custom code, costing only pennies a day for production levels of traffic. In this session, I’ll walk through the serverless architecture, design trade-offs, and usage of workflows and events to create this resilient, real-time solution. I’ll also explain patterns we discovered in this project that you can use in your own production serverless workloads.
Bio: James Beswick is a Principal Developer Advocate and runs the AWS Serverless Developer Advocacy team. He’s built serverless solutions on AWS for the last five years and previously worked in both start-ups and enterprises in Software Development and Product Manager roles.
