Serverless Meetup

Details

Hey Serverless Scalers,

it is about time for our first meetup in 2018.

We are very happy to have Pál Dávid Gergely talk about

Moving a Node.js application from Virtual Machines to Containers and then to Serverless

Pál will guide us through the process of moving an existing Node.js code base from a virtual machine based running environment to Serverless. Along the way he will stop at Kubernetes, so that we can take a look at the advantages and disadvantages of choosing the middle ground between Serverless and a VM based setup. The actual example will use a simple Node.js application written by Pál for demonstrating the steps. All of the services will use Google Cloud Platform to demonstrate the different steps, but they should work very similarly with any other provider. The slides of the presentation, the source code, and the configuration files will all be shared after the meetup.

About Pál Dávid Gergely:
Pál is a System Engineer with hands-on experience with many cloud providers, including AWS, Google, Azure and IBM SoftLayer. He likes to architect and build complete solutions that are resilient and scale well from databases up to the application layer. He is currently working at Doctusoft as a Solution Engineer specializing in Google Cloud Platform.

We will then have a small break.

The second part of the event is an orga talk and will be about the current state and latest developments in the serverless world, assembled and presented by Gerald.

We are still open to sponsors for the event.

Seeing you soon,
Gerald & László
