AGENDA

--- TALK 1 ---

Stop hackers with a JWT and Netlify Identity by Bruce Thomas

Bruce will share how to use a Netlify function to generate an authentication endpoint to secure user validation with a JWT that uses Netlify Identity. This Protects your API key from falling into the wrong hands, validates user registration, and allows you to deny access to bad actors. Netlify Identity is a great example of how serverless technology makes security surprisingly easy.

-- TALK 2 --

12-Factor Apps. Building modern applications by Vlad

In the modern era, software is commonly delivered as a service: called web apps, or software-as-a-service. The twelve-factor app is a methodology for building software-as-a-service apps that:
- Use declarative formats for setup automation, to minimize time and cost for new developers joining the project;
- Have a clean contract with the underlying operating system, offering maximum portability between execution environments;
- Are suitable for deployment on modern cloud platforms, obviating the need for servers and systems administration;
- Minimize divergence between development and production, enabling continuous deployment for maximum agility;
- And can scale up without significant changes to tooling, architecture, or development practices.

About the speakers:

Bruce Thomas works as a Dev Rel engineer for Ably Realtime, where he focuses on developer education. After a long career as a senior front end developer Bruce changed track to pursue a developer education role where he combines his passion for teaching and video production with the fascinating world of emerging technologies like JAMStack. In his spare time Bruce writes fiction and attends weekly life drawing sessions.
