setState is back!

Thanks everyone for coming to the first event. We're back at Futurice London for our June edition.

Dan Harvey, Habito - "What have types ever done for us?"

Since the recent explosion in Typescript and other typed compile-to-Javascript languages a frequent cry has been one of frustration - "why all this complication?" - "what does this really get me?". Articles like "The Typescript Tax" have been passed around, spreading the fear that types were merely a conspiracy invented to stop 10x developer smashing out React apps the way they have always known and loved.

In this talk I will not be pretending there are no costs in using a type system, but instead looking at Refined and Arbitrary types - what they are, and how they can be used for UI, contract testing and generating documentation. Hopefully at the end we will see that once we have paid the price for types, we get a whole load back for free.
