VIERA WETLANDS

Open to all! Meet 630am at the SR 44 Walmart parking lot in NSB for carpooling and a 7am sharp departure to a fabulous wetlands and Central Florida birding destination.
VIERA WETLANDS is located between the Moccasin Island Tract of the River Lakes Conservation Area and the Brevard Zoo. Popular among birders, photographers, it is included in the East Section of the Great Florida Birding Trail. The constructed wetland system polishes reclaimed water for irrigation or overflow into the adjacent Four-mile Canal.
The treatment wetlands consist of 200 acres divided into four cells of approximately 35 acres each, plus a central lake. The cells were designed to maintain differing depths of water, reflecting diverse wetland conditions.
Meet at the SW end of the Walmart parking lot on SR44 in NSB to carpool. Bring a lunch, plan to return to NSB mid-afternoon. Dress for the weather, and bring bug spray, water, snacks.
