Birds That Eat Other Birds: Avian Avivores
with Bob Kellogg & Brian Mulcahy, Marine Science Center Educators

Did you know there’s an entire universe of birds that eat other birds? They’re called avian avivores—and they’re far more common (and fascinating) than you might think.

🦅 Live bird(s) are expected!

Bob Kellogg and Brian Mulcahy will explore the wide range of species that prey on birds, from dedicated carnivores to opportunistic feeders. The program then narrows its focus to Florida’s raptors—those perfectly adapted hunters we see right here at home.

Brian will introduce our resident raptors and explain what sets each group apart.

Bob will take a deep dive into who’s hunting whom, spotlighting three bird-hunting raptors found in Florida: North American Kestrels, Cooper’s Hawks, and Peregrine Falcons.

As time allows, the discussion will broaden to include other bird species known to prey on birds.
