Honeybees show remarkable behavioral flexibility and a keen ability to adapt. However, many experts believe they may be operating close to their limits. Reduced genetic diversity in some commercial populations, along with increasing environmental stressors, raises important questions about long-term resilience.

Donna explores how honeybees have responded to the challenges we’ve created for them — and what their future may depend on. Protecting pollinators will require balancing the need for commercial pollination with healthier landscapes, better nutrition, reduced pesticide exposure, and more sustainable breeding practices.
