Sevilla English Writers Group

The Sevilla Writers Group is for writers of all levels, from beginners to experienced authors, who write in english. Our Sunday sessions run from 4pm to 6pm.
We have poets, novelists, journalists, business writers, travel writers - from award winners and best selling authors, to those just starting out. Everyone is welcome if they want to write, or do write.

How it works: After introductions, we spend the first hour doing a writing exercise. These are lots of fun with positive discussions on what worked well. And they are great to see the different ways people write! You don't have to read but this has kick started lots of people writing again, or trying out their writing skills in a safe environment.

For the second hour, we see who wants to read something and get feedback. You don't have to read anything, you can just come along and discuss the readings and meet other writers.
Each person gets 10 minutes to read, and 5 - 10 minutes for feedback and discussion (timing depends on how many people are reading that evening).

Timing: The session starts at 4pm. Please arrive a few minutes before the group starts as it's quite disruptive when people arrive late.

Venue: We meet in the lobby of the Radisson hotel on Plaza de Magdalene.

Cost: The event is free.

Host: I will be hosting the session. If by chance I can't be there, one of the our fabulous regulars will run things. Once you've attended, then we can add you to the WhatsApp group so you can keep in touch easier. Any questions just get in touch with me through meetup.

Please note: This is not the best group to help if you want to get better at english. We all talk fast, and have difficult accents to understand if you are not fluent in english. An intercambio may be better for you.

VENUE: Casa del Libro kindly host our sessions. Come up to Level 4 for the events room and we'll be there. There is an elevator near the back of the store, or stairs.

Join us for a fantastic evening of literature and laughs as we launch four incredible books.

The session will be MC'ed by Angela Atkins, who will also discuss the Seville Writers Group anthology, as well as asking our authors about their writing journeys, what inspired them, who they like to read and much more!
There will also be a chance for questions from the audience.
Books will be available for purchase - please bring cash.

About our panel:

Angela Atkins was born in England, grew up in New Zealand and has lived in California, Hawaii and South America. She and her husband currently split their time between the UK, France and Spain. She is the author of four books of non-fiction including the best-seller Management Bites as well as the novel Britpop Summer. Her writing has appeared in various magazines and other publications. She is the founder of the Sevilla English Writers Group and the Leeds Writing Group and Book Club. For more visit angela-atkins.com

Sebastian Whale is a freelance journalist and the author of two books, The Usual Channels: Inside the Mysterious World of Political Whips and Call to Order, a biography of the former Commons Speaker John Bercow. His work has appeared in The Guardian, the New Statesman, Politico, The House magazine, PoliticsHome and the New European.
He will be talking about his latest book, 'The Usual Channels'.

Ginger Creek has published several queer novels in Spanish and an English sports romance saga called SUAT. She is originally from Seville, and has also lived in Canada and Japan, so her writing is highly influenced by her traveling experiences. Ginger will be talking about SUAT.

Patrick Doherty was born in Longford in Ireland 1987. His work has appeared in the Irish Independent and been broadcast on RTE Radio One. He has been shortlisted for the Hennessy New Irish Writing Awards and the PJ O’Connor Radio Drama awards.
He lives in Seville with his partner and two children.
Pure Innocent Boy is his first novel.

VENUE: We will be upstairs at the MAS Fundacion. Please arrive in time for the 6.30pm start.
