Santa Cruz Run (formerly To Ukiah and Back (Again))

UPDATE: Due to the extreme heat forecast for Ukiah this weekend I let the participants vote on some alternative route options and the winner was the Santa Cruz Run! My apologies for the inconvenience for those who wanted to do a ride up north.

We will meet at Starbucks in Saratoga at 9:30 AM on Sunday, July 2--KSU 10 AM. Please arrive with a full tank of gas. In total we will ride about 144 miles (no highways).

This will be a full day ride starting in Saratoga, taking Route 9 to Big Basin Way, with a coffee break in Boulder Creek, then onto Bear Creek plus some backroads eventually making our way down to Santa Cruz for lunch at the outdoor food court at Abbott Square Market (parking in the Trader Joe's lot). After lunch we take Empire Grade back to Ice Cream Grade, over to Bonny Doon, up Route 1, coffee break in Pescadero, then up Pescadero Road to Alpine, down Page Mill Road, and finish the ride near Stanford. Final route may change slightly, but these are the key aspects of the ride.

Please read the following before signing up:

• The pace will be spirited -- you should be comfortable going 10-15 mph above the recommended speed limit
• You should be comfortable lane splitting and passing cars in a single lane
• You should be comfortable doing 200+ miles of backroads in a single day
• I recommend everyone download the route (Final route)
• I recommend bringing sun protection, snacks, and something to drink!

TL/DR:

• Meet at **Starbucks in Saratoga **at 9:30 AM (with full tank of gas)
• KSU at 10:00 AM
• Lunch in Santa Cruz around 12 PM at Abbott Square Market
• End at Shell Gas near Stanford around 4:30 PM

Ride will be rescheduled if it rains.
