Sunset/Full moon hike at Marin Headlands

Hi all,
Here's a last minute short hike to enjoy the sunset and the full moon rise.

Sunset is at 8:21 pm and the moon rise is at 8:43 pm. So we can see the moonrise from the slacker hill if the weather cooperates...sometimes, there is fog, but the slacker hill can be above the fog making it even more beautiful.

This will be about 4.5 mile [round trip] hike starting from the 'Gerbode valley trailhead' parking lot along the bunker road.
We watch the full moon coming up from behind the east bay hills from the dinner spot and later walk back under the bright moonlight.

The hike is a gradual climb [with last half mile steep] to the dinner spot.

Recommended things to bring:

• Jacket/blanket/sleeping bag/wine......anything to keep you warm and cozy.
• Bring food/snack to share if you like ;)
• The dinner spot is not paved, so a blanket or a tarp is recommended if you have one. I'll bring a big tarp to sit on and put food on.
• Bring your headlamp/flashlight, so you don't trip and
  fall, though the path is mostly a wide fire road. So should be ok to walk in the dark especially under the moonlight.

DIRECTIONS:
We'll meet at the parking lot at 7:00pm [There is a restroom at the parking lot].

• From SF, cross the Golden Gate Bridge and exit at Alexander (the first exit past the view point turnoff). Keep right at the first fork.
• After about 0.3 mile, turn left onto Bunker Road [watch for the brown park signs.
  There is a one-way tunnel which cuts under 101, and you may need to wait up to 5 minutes for your turn to travel through it.
• From the other side of the tunnel, keep driving until you see the 'Gerbode valley trailhead parking lot' sign on the right [after you pass the horse stables on the left].
  Turn right into that parking lot.

According to the park service trail map, dogs are not allowed on the final stretch of the trail to the slacker hill :(

We should be back to the parking lot around 10:00 to 10:30pm [you can get back earlier if you like].
