Neuromancer by William Gibson
Details
William Gibson’s first published novel is set in a gritty near-future dystopia and follows Case, a computer hacker who gets pulled into a dangerous, high-stakes heist. He’s recruited by a powerful artificial intelligence and a traumatised former soldier, throwing him into a world of shady deals and digital danger. Often described as a foundational cyberpunk novel, critics still debate whether it kick-started the genre or simply arrived at the perfect moment. Either way, it made history as the first and only novel to win the Hugo Award, the Nebula Award for Best Novel, and the Philip K. Dick Award. It’s now widely seen as a cyberpunk classic and was even named one of Time magazine’s All-Time 100 Novels in 2005.
