Using the Ballot to Fight Corruption

Details
San Francisco has faced waves of scandals in which public officials abused their power for personal, political or organizational gain. Most recently, the Department of Public Works was rocked by an FBI investigation into alleged kickbacks, slush funds and illicit permitting influence. With an anticorruption proposition on the 2020 ballot, and other reform proposals up for debate, how can voters use the ballot box as a tool to hold local government accountable? Hear from two veteran good-government experts who help break down the challenges in San Francisco, California and beyond.
The panel includes:
- Carmen Balber, executive director, Consumer Watchdog
- Larry Bush, member, San Francisco Ethics Commission
This discussion will be moderated by Max Pringle, Bay Area radio journalist.
