About the Company
I'm currently representing a stealth startup headed by a former Google Engineer and Yale CS alumni. Although we're very engineering focused, we also have a penchant user experience and game design. We feel that the genre of, "social game" is a misnomer; and are looking to bring in an entirely different feel to the traditional mold of social games. The founder is a technical wizard but also an out of the box game designer, whose previous project (which mixed real life game interaction with a location-based virtual world) received funding from Y-Combinator.
We are currently seeking a key engineering hire who has the passion to help architect and build the game server from scratch, but also wants to have a definitive say in the final product. This is a very niche position as we are not seeking a purely heads-down coder. Compensation is competitive and equity will be very significant.
-Experience developing scalable servers in Python (Ruby would also be acceptable but MUST have some Python experience)
-Experience with MySQL DB
-Collaborative personality. This is a key opportunity to have input not only in the engineering side but also in the overall final product.
-Passion for social web and/or game development
-CS degree or equivalent experience
-Bay Area local
-Hands-on development using Amazon EC2, be it professional or through personal/academic/open source projects.
-Familiarity with Facebook APIs
-Experience developing the server side for online/MMO/social games
