Hey fellow Symfonians,

We are really happy to announce the upcoming Symfony Usergroup where Denis Brumann will talk about Cloud-Gateways and how to develop for them with Symfony and Tim Jabs will share his insights on how to make a meaningful code review.

This event will be hosted by rebuy in the center of Berlin.

Please come and join us for great talks and socialize with other Symfony devs at a great location.

The first talk will be by Denis Brumann :
Developing Cloud-Gateways with Symfony
Integrating multiple (internal or external) services is an increasingly important task when building APIs. Growing issues with availability with each new service, inconsistencies between them and other problems are what follows usually. One way of addressing these is introducing a new app in the service landscape acting as a central gateway sitting between your clients and the service landscape they require.
This app may act as an orchestrator responsible for handling complex processes over multiple services for the client, it consolidates inconsistent routes or models, or it aggregates data from multiple sources. Handling complexity for the clients, but still not being in full control over the source data brings some unique challenges, you might not expect coming from a typical API.
Let’s take a look at some of the unique challenges of cloud gateways, when Symfony is the right choice for them and what approaches you might know from developing your own APIs will not work when your app coordinates between clients and other services.

The second talk will be by Tim Jabs :
How to make a meaningful code review
Did you ever think, that code reviews are a waste of time? Have your team members ever commented on anything else, than spelling mistakes or other minors in a code review? Tim Jabs explains his view about: "What makes a code review meaningful". This includes a survival guide for dealing with strange complex code without any context. Additionally, we will talk about the social aspect, the components of a meaningful code review and where your time and focus is well invested.
