Talk 1: "Open Source: From the idea to the project " by Oliver Kossin
Haven’t we all had the idea for an open source project ?
But how is the way from an idea to a real open source project?
How do I work with several people on a single repository?
What is an organization ? Have you ever heard the term “Fork”?
And how do Github Actions for quality assurance work?
In this talk we will try to answer all these questions by creating a real community bundle organization for the Sulu CMS project, setting it up and taking a detailed look at how to work in it. That soon nothing will stand in the way of your next project or contribution.
Talk 2: "How much database abstraction do I need?" by Alexander M. Turek
SQL databases are an integral part of many web applications.
But what is the best way to interact with the database?
Do I write all SQL statements by hand for maximum control?
Or do I use an ORM to reduce repetition and remain compatible with multiple SQL dialects?
We take a look at the Doctrine ORM and DBAL libraries, as well as native PHP extensions, and compare them for our use cases.
Join us for an evening of insightful talks, engaging discussions, and networking opportunities. We can't wait to see you all at the Symfony User Group of August.
If you have any questions or accessibility requirements, please reach out to us.
