Using Relational Database Service (RDS)

Details

• What we'll do
Join us to learn more about Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS), including performance and cost-savings benefits of using RDS instead of a self-hosted database service on your EC2 instances.

We will begin with an introduction to RDS, discuss pricing and metrics, compare database types (e.g. Aurora vs MariaDB vs MySQL vs PostgreSQL), deep dive into database options (e.g. Instance Classes, Security Groups, Parameter Groups, Backups, Monitoring, Maintenance), discuss single instance vs multiple instances (e.g. clustering), and discuss the Amazon Database Migration Service (DMS). We will also discuss how to use Reserved Instances to decrease costs.

There is no charge to attend. Arrive anytime after 11:30am to network with other AWS users and place your (optional) food/drink order with the restaurant staff. Please plan to stay afterwards for Q&A in case you have questions.

Unable to attend? Tune into our live stream on YouTube, or watch the recording afterwards. https://bit.ly/sgf-aws-youtube
