CHRISTMAS TREE LANE IN ALTADENA
Location not specified yetJoin me for a festive night of Christmas lights in Altadena.
Yes, that's right, the Altadena Christmas Tree Lane is open this year, with its annual lighting ceremony scheduled for Dec. 6, 2025, at 6 PM.
This year's event is especially meaningful for the community, following the challenges of the Eaton Fire. It serves as a celebration of resilience and unity.
Meet us at 4pm to enjoy the festivities. We can hang out for a couple of hours until the lighting ceremony starts at 6 pm.
We will meet here at this intersection.
MEETING PLACE
The Winterfest will include live music, food trucks, holiday treats, and local artisans. There will also be a holiday decorating contest and opportunities to meet Santa Clause.
This Winterfest runs from 3pm to 9pm.
****WEARING AN UGLY CHRISTMAS SWEATER IS ENOURAGED***
Parking may be challenging. I suggest carpooling or Uber
HISTORY:
Christmas Tree Lane is the oldest large scale outdoor Christmas display. The trees on the Santa Rosa Avenue have been lighted annually since 1920. This will be the 105th year of a holiday tradition.
There are 135 cedar trees stretching nearly a mile along Santa Rosa Avenue and are strung with lights by volunteers each year.3 attendees
TOYS FOR TOTS-VOLUNTEER EVENT WITH SALVATION ARMY
Location not specified yetI've been volunteering with the Salvation Army during the Christmas season for many years and every year volunteers are greatly needed at their Bell Warehouse in Los Angeles to sort toys that will be delivered to needy children.
This is a fun event. There are lots of toys to sort and it's a good feeling to give back to those less fortunate.
SALVATION ARMY REQUIREMENTS:
comfortable attire and closed-toe shoes.
(you may get dirty so please do not wear anything really nice)
no personal belongings should be brought into the warehouse and should be left in your car.
We will be sorting toys for kids ranging from infants to teenagers.
We will also be assisting with receiving toys from private donors and the Marine Corps.
The Salvation Army provides snacks & drinks for volunteers.
*****PLEASE DO NOT JUST SHOW UP WITHOUT SIGNING UP & SENDING ME YOUR INFO*****
If you wish to participate please send me a PM with your email address/phone number and I will forward it to the Salvation Army coordinator. Due to safety reasons, this info is required before you can attend the event. Once received I will move you to the going list.
There are a few dates available for the volunteering as a group and I will be posting them separately.
The dates are December 8th, 9th, & 17th
Shifts are 9 am to 12 pm. Additional dates will open up as we get closer to Christmas.
We can arrange a meeting point and carpool for those interested.
Parking is free.
