Visit Falling Rock Canyon and peaks (Sugarloaf, Ontario)

http://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/4/9/2/2/event_230478722.jpegLet's visit Falling Rock Canyon as a route to Ontario Peak. On the way we will visit Sugarloaf Peak (6924')- a very visible but rather low (and HPS-listed) peak just southeast of the Icehouse Canyon parking lot.

The canyon isn't particularly dangerous, despite its name... although there's a trivial class 2 climb getting into the canyon proper.

The ascent from the canyon floor to the saddle between Sugarloaf and Ontario Peaks probably gives the canyon its name: groups often knock rocks into eachother. We will hike up this steep gully together in a horizontal line to prevent this. (Dogs must be on a short leash here, literally.) (The image is a look down from the saddle)

From there we'll visit Sugarloaf from the saddle then ascend the long steep ridge to Ontario Peak. Bighorn sheep frequent this area.

We'll then descend to Icehouse Saddle (visiting Bighorn Peak if the group wants), then down the usual trail to our cars.

Stats: 10 miles, 4000' gain.
