Name: Mt. Baldy Loop: Up the Ski Hut Trail and down the Devil's Backbone

If you have Thursday off, join us for a Mt. Baldy Lollipop Loop! The mileage on this intermediate hike is approximately 11 miles, and the elevation gain is about 3,900 feet. We'll go up Falls Road and make a left at the junction with the Ski Hut Trail. It could be difficult to spot, so we'll take a quick breather and make sure everyone goes on the right trail. Our first official break/regrouping point will be at the Sierra Club Ski Hut. We'll cross a small creek and boulder field, and we'll climb up and reach a ridge top. After this point, there are several trails. Luckily they all eventually join up and head up to our destination, Mt. San Antonio/Baldy. Before we summit, we may stop by and explore the WWII era airplane crash site. To complete the lollipop loop, we'll hike down the Devil's Backbone and Falls Road.

Our pace will be moderate, but we can adjust to the group's collective abilities. We'll meet at 8:00 am near the intersection of Mount Baldy Road and Falls Road (in front of the gate). Note: An Adventure Pass is required to park on Mount Baldy Road. Also, I'm cross posting this hike with Adventurers Unlimited.
